Round Dhaulagiri Trekking

Dhaulagiri TrekkingDhaulagiri Trekking was close for sometime to travel for trekkers and is re opened now from 2 years ago. Dhaulagiri Trekking follows a circuitous trail, first compelled by an Austrian expedition team in 1959 Around Dhaulagiri Trekking (8167m) and Tucuche peak (6920m). The trail starting from Pokhara the trail leads North West up to the Kaligandaki river valley staying on the rivers right back through Beni and Tatopani (here the Kalignadaki gives a way to Myagdi Khola. Continuing from Tatopani, you pass through Phedi and Dhorpatan to Muri, then head north along the left bank and across Myagdi glacier and Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4750m). Approaching the French pass (5360m), between the summit of Tucuche and Mukut Himal. Throughout, the clossal peaks of the Dahulagiri range surrounding you.

Crossing the Dhaulagiri French Pass Trekking (The highest point on your trek) you come out in the hidden valley. You swing southeast along the trail leading to Dhampus Pass; you reach the valley of Tucuche on route to Jomsom and Muktinath / an important Buddhist and Hindu Pilgrimage site. After returning to Jomsom from Muktinath, fly to Kathmandu from Pokhara. Before you climb for your trek into high altitude, being strenuous trek, it is suggested a participants must be in excellent physical condition and posses some previous experience and skill of crossing glaciers and climbing snow slopes. This trek lasts 24 days.

Trip Itinerary Print This Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu
.Upon your arrival at Kathmandu, you will be welcomed heartily by company representative at the airport and transfer to hotel with a short briefing session reflecting ancient local tradition, shrines and temples found over here. Overnight in Kathmandu. (1000m)

Day 2: Kathmandu sightseen.
Visit World Heritage site in Kathmandu including Kathmandu Durbar Square , Patan Durbar Square , Pasupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath ( also called Monkey Temple)as a half day trip . Overnight stay in Kathmandu (1000m/280ft)

Day 3: Drive to Kathmandu to Ben.
Drive from Kathmandu to Beni by private transport which takes about 8 to 9 hours.

Day 4: Trek from Beni to Babichaur (1000m).
Here you leave Kaligandaki river and will enter to Myagdi Khola valley.

Day 5: Trek from Babichaur to Dharapani (1565m).
Here you will camp from Dharapani 1565m and Dhaulagiri is no more so far.

Day 6 :Dharapani to Muri (1856m).
Trek from Dharapani to Muri (1856m) through the path steep up to Muri (1850m) from where you view Mt. Dhaulagiri and other mountains .

Day 7: Trek from Muri to Boghara (2050m).
From Muri the trail is easy and goes down for few hours but before to reach Boghara, you have to climb steep path for a couple of hours.

Day 8: Trek from Boghara to Dhoban (2630m).
Today's trail will lead to difficult path and need the help of ropes. Watch your step.

Day 9: Trek from Dhoban to Italian Base camp (3500m).
Your trek today will lead you up to Italian Base camp where you will camp just in front of the west wall of the Dhaulagiri. Passing through the beautiful forest we rapidly gain altitude and mountain burst put all around.

Day 10: Relax time.
Acclimatization day exploring to be have a relax time because next days trek will lead you to the tough path of the journey.

Day 11: Italian Base camp to Glacier camp (4250m).
Trek from Italian Base camp to Glacier camp (4250m) after crossing first glacier , you are likely to use rope in a couple of tricky spots to climb onto the main glacier . The surroundings are spectacular which makes up for the rough and dangerous trail.

Day 12: Glacier camp to Dhaulagiri Camp (4650m).
Trek from Glacier camp to Dhaulagiri Camp (4650m) through the virtuous and valor adventurous climb up through rough rubble gives way to the smooth ice of the white part of the glacier. You climb steadily to the rough and chilling but spectacular Dhaulagiri base camp.

Day 13:Dhaulagiri Base camp exploring.
Rest at Dhaulagiri Base camp exploring the spectacular views of different mountains and climbing constantly at an altitude of 500 – 600m after a rigorous trip. 

Day 14 : Dhaulagiri Base camp ( French Col ) to Hidden valley.
Dhaulagiri Base camp ( French Col ) to Hidden valley getting off the glacier above the base camp often requires a rope , but once over the steep moraine walls , we are in safer and more gentle country after the breathless climb to the top of the French . 

Day 15: Rest day.
Rest day at Hidden Valley camp (5000m) admiring the surrounding peaks and exploring some other peaks. 

Day 16: Trek from Hidden Valley to Yak Kharka.
After climbing over the 5200m over the Dhampus pass, you travel to Avalanche prone slopes and then descend steeply to Yak Kharka.

Day 17: Trek from Yak Kharka to Marpha.
Today's trail leads you to more steep descent to Marpha after adventurous trek in moraine like mountain. Enjoy with well deserved beer over lunch.

Day 18: Trek from Marpha to Lete (2438m)
Today your trail starts from lovely village of white washed houses and fertile fields and continue down to Kali gandaki reaching the former Thakali trading centre of Tukuche. As the trail continues the Himalayan rain shadow. 

Day 19: Trek from Lete to Tatopani (1190m).
Today you walk beautiful trek with another transition into sub tropical vegetation and the return of water buffalo, banyan trees and poinsettias. The trail follows the river through a narrow gorge and descends to cross a bridge. 

Day 20: Rest day at Tatopani. Enjoy with hot spring.


Day 21: Trek from Tatopani to Ghorepani (2899m).
Steadily climbing all day, we eventually leave behind the terraced fields and walk through thick rhododendron forests to the village of Ghorepani meaning horse walk. You camp at the pass for the best views of the sunset. 

Day 22: Trek from Ghorepani Poon Hill to Tadapani.
As a refreshment making at early in the morning , you start your journey to Poon Hill (3195m) around one hour provides better unobstructed views and sunrise over the high Himalayas . You will view lots of White Mountain peaks from there facing to the north.

Day 23: Tadapani to Landrung.
Trek from Tadapani to Landrung takes approximately 6 hours. From Tadapani, the trail descends through the forests then terraced fields, to the Khumbu Khola.

Day 24: Trek from Landrung to Dhampus.
Today, you start your trek from Langdrung with gorgeous shrubs passing through fields, schools and some unusual oval shaped houses. This trek descends Tolka, a small settlement at 1710m, with several lodges along the trails. 

Day 25: Trek from Dhampus tp Pokhara.
From Dhampus, all the way downhill through the village to Phedi. Starting at an elevation of 1580m in a village and then forests that is so over graded that is look like a manicured municipal park

Day 26: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu by bus.

Day 27: Transfer to International airport for your final departure by the representative.
