This adventurous tour has only just become possible with the opening of the entry point at Samdrup-Jongkhar, a sub-tropical region which borders India. Completely off the beaten path you will be able to visit the heartlands of Bhutan including the eastern provinces and town of Trashigang and Mongar where the people are semi-nomadic. Journey onto the more frequently visited destinations of the Bumthang Valley, Trongsa, Gangtey, Punakha, Thimpu and Paro, each of which has its own attractions including dzongs, markets and stunning vistas. The infrastructure and accommodation for the first few days in Bhutan will be a far cry from a luxury holiday but with each passing day this will change and you will certainly feel that you have earned your luxuries by the end of the trip. This tour is purely a suggested itinerary. It can be booked as is or alternatively used as a starting point for creating your own ideal bespoke trip to Bhutan.
Day 1 - Reach permit office in Samdrup Jonghkar and complete permit formalities. If possible, reach Trashigang by evening.
Day 2- Reach Trashigang. Explore Gom Kora and Rangjing, overnight at Trashigang.
Day 3- Depart for Jakar (12 hrs journey i think.)Reach Jakar by night and overnight stay.
Day 4- Depart for Punakha from Jakar (8 hrs travel). Reach Punakha by evening and explore the valley. Overnight stay
Day 5- Half day for Punakha, and leave for Thimpu before lunch. Reach Thimpu by evening. Sightseeing in Thimpu and overnight stay.
Day 6- Sight seeing in Thimpu
Day 7- Leave for Paro. Visit Tiger's Nest and other monasteries.Overnight in Paro
Day 8- Paro sightseeing.
Day 9- Leave for Phuentsholing and exit Bhutan.
