Chomolhari Treking

This intimate wilderness trek offers a great variety of trekking conditions, from remote farmland and blue pine forests, to alpine pasture land and breathtaking mountain views. It's comfortable, low-impact, and absolutely unforgettable! Starting from Paro it goes into northern Bhutan to the land of yak-herders and to the base of Mount Cholomhari (7,316 meters / 24,000 feet), which is the most holy mountain for the Bhutanese. From there the trek goes on to remote Lingshi Dzong which once guarded the frontier with Tibet. From the ruins of Drukgyal Dzong (fortress of the Victorous Drukpas), below such beautiful peaks, you will hike through the heart of wildlife-rich. The sky-piercing peaks, thunderous waterfalls, turquoise lakes and streams, rolling meadows filled with wildflowers, remote yak herders villages, and forests of rodhodendron, pine, juniper and fir provide the perfect backdrop for this inspiring and challenging adventure. You will be rewarded with up-close views of Bhutan's most beautiful peaks. This trek offers fabulous views of the mountains including Chomolhari, Jitchu Draake and Tsheringkhang mountains besides stunning Himalayan scenery and exceptional flora. Trekker will encounter many yak-herders with their hairy wards and their camps but few villages. The maximum altitude gained is 4,900 meters (16,000 feet).
